Important Organizations in the Kor-Omthel’s region "The Granite Fist" This is the unofficial name of
the lord’s guard, named after the symbol portrayed on the Kor-Omthel’s banner. In the past, it was considered an elite
force, comprising many skilled officers with years of experience confronting
the dangers of the mountainous s region. Today, it is greatly diminished from
its former glory and under its current commander has become a controversial
and sometimes ruthless organization, primarily concerned with securing the
castle and the surrounding town, the scholars and other guests from the Gray
Principality, and pursuing the enemies of the current lord. The inner coterie of this transformed guard are the
Mistweavers that accompanied the new guard commander. “The high apprentices” A group of highborn apprentices who reside and
train beneath one of the towers of Kor-Omthel castle,
in a compound titled "The High Courtyards". The high apprentices include the children of
important local families affiliated with the Lord, or actively seeking his favor,
legitimate and illegitimate descendants of "The Three Foxes," and
also a handful of young individuals from lower backgrounds selected for their
actual talent. This group of young people is considered to be destined to
serve the lord and potentially fulfill senior roles in his court in the
future, although such positions are never guaranteed, and it is likely that
only a small fraction will truly catch the eye of one of the senior figures
in the court and be able to advance in this way. "The High Apprentices" spend their days
studying under the scholars from the Gray Principality (including the lord's
daughter), training in weaponry, attempting to gain access to the "truly
noble" parts of the castle, and engaging in numerous intrigues and
internal struggles. They are divided into various factions as the castle provides
only for their basic needs, and they secure most of their funds from their
families or sponsors - or from other sources, leading some apprentices to
become catspaws for the intrigues of more powerful figures. |
