"Of the Battle
of Light and the theft of the Silmarilli"
שיר פרי
עטו של יואל ואינגר (Elindor)
Where are the nights
that we once loved?
when
evening fell our hearts were glad
now
morgoth filled them with his lies
and
evenings fill our hearts with dread.
First Aule made two
mighty lamps
and
Varda filled them both with light
and
Manwe took and hollowed them
to
drive away the endless night.
The light our foe
could not subdue
so
to destroy it he set forth
from
heavens high to earth he threw
the
lamps that shone in south and north.
Yavana set on
ezellohar
she
closed her eyes and sang a song
and
all the valar, near and far
in
silence set and listened long
but Nienna washed the
mound with tears
two
trees from it had fully grown
one
golden leaved, one silver clear
Laurelin
and Telperion.
Then Melkor sought
Ungoliant
together
they had made their plans
she'll
cover them in lightless clouds
he'll
feed her lust with both his hands.
She covered them with
her dark web
and
under it they traveled far
until
they came to valinor
and
climbed up mound ezellohar
Then Morgoth killed
the trees that grew
under
the stars for ages long
and
as he fled he also slew
lord
finwe in his guarded home.
The silmarilli he had
stole
for
in his heart to light he craved
and
then escaped from valinor
still
hiding underneath the shade.
