“The
Empire! Our radiant Empire! Majestic, invincible – until heresy and betrayal
undermined it from within, and triggered the Great Shattering- “ Someone
knocked on the door. The old man paused, lifted the quill and cast an angry
glance at the source of the disturbance, somewhere in the corridor on the
other side of the door. “Leave
me, and inform my dear daughter that I will attend later. She can handle her
degrading reception without my presence”.
The
old man returned to his writing. “Many
decades have passed since the last time I wore my sapphire trimmed armor, and
wielded a sword in the name of her radiant highness. Just try to explain to
it today’s youth – the true meaning of true exaltedness of the spirit! The
invincible blue glimmer of the marching legion shields! We fought against
savages and ogres, and they crumbled before us! The Mistweavers in their
mighty towers, led by their white-clad king, bowed before us! I swear that we
would have even crush those molten rock creatures in the distant north, had
it not been for that cursed backstabbing rebel “Grey Rose” she and her pack
of lickspittle traitors!” |
